Shopify migration

Shopify Migration Without Losing What Already Works

Move your store to Shopify from WooCommerce, Wix or another platform. Products, customers, order history and Google rankings are planned for before anything changes.

Digital Fold handles Shopify migrations for businesses in South Africa and internationally. When you migrate to Shopify with us, we move your products, customers and content across, rebuild the storefront and redirect every old URL so you keep your search traffic. You'll know exactly what transfers, and what doesn't, before we start.

The data

What we migrate

Products and variants

Titles, descriptions, images, prices, SKUs, variants and stock levels.

Collections and categories

Your category structure mapped to Shopify collections, with filters.

Customers

Customer records and marketing consent. Passwords can't be moved between platforms, so we set up account invitations for existing customers.

Order history

Past orders imported for reporting and customer service, using a specialist migration app where needed.

Content and blogs

Pages, blog posts and the images in them.

Reviews and redirects

Product reviews moved to a Shopify review app, and every old URL redirected to its new location.

The problem

The real risks of switching platforms

A badly run store migration costs sales. Product URLs change and Google sends shoppers to error pages. Customers can't log in. Reviews disappear. Stock levels don't match. None of that is inevitable, but all of it needs planning. Most of the work in a good Shopify migration happens before the switch, not on launch day.

WooCommerce to Shopify, Wix to Shopify and more

Every platform migrates differently. WooCommerce to Shopify moves usually carry the most data: years of orders, customer accounts and custom fields added by plugins. Wix to Shopify moves tend to involve smaller catalogues but a full storefront rebuild, since Wix designs can't be carried across. If you're on another platform, tell us which one and we'll confirm what can be moved.

Protecting your Google rankings

Shopify uses fixed URL structures, so your product and category URLs will change. Before launch we export every URL from your current store, match each one to its new Shopify address and load the redirects. We also carry across page titles, meta descriptions and image alt text, then check Google Search Console for errors after launch. Rankings can move for a few weeks after any migration, but planned redirects keep that disruption small.

We work on both platforms

We build on WooCommerce and Shopify, so we understand where your data comes from as well as where it's going.

A written migration plan

You sign off what moves, what doesn't and the launch date before any data is touched.

Your store keeps trading

We build and test the new store in the background while your current store stays open.

Checked, not assumed

Sample products, customers and orders are checked after import, and test orders run before launch.

FAQs

Shopify migration FAQs

A single beam of light bridging a dark canyon, mist drifting below
Will a Shopify migration hurt our SEO?
Not if it's planned. We redirect every old URL and carry over your page titles and descriptions. Some short-term movement is normal after any platform change.
Can you move our store from WooCommerce or WordPress to Shopify?
Yes. Products, customers, orders, blogs and reviews can all be moved. We confirm how any custom plugin data will be handled before we start.
Can we move from Wix to Shopify?
Yes. Products and content are transferred, and the storefront is rebuilt on a Shopify theme, since Wix designs can't be moved across.
Will our customers need new passwords?
Yes. No platform lets you move passwords across securely. We set up account invitation emails so existing customers can activate their new accounts easily.
Will our store go offline?
No. Your current store keeps trading while we build. On launch day we switch your domain over, which can take a few hours to update everywhere.
Can you redesign the store at the same time?
Yes, and it's often the best time to do it. We design the new store in Figma while the data migration is being prepared.
What do we need to prepare?
Admin access to your current store, a list of the apps and integrations you use, and a preferred launch window outside your busiest trading period.
