Rebranding

Rebranding Without Losing What People Recognise

A full rebrand or a careful brand refresh for businesses that have grown, changed direction or outgrown how they look. Planned properly, so your customers follow you to the new brand.

Digital Fold is a Cape Town branding agency that handles rebranding for businesses across South Africa and internationally. We start by working out what to keep and what to change, then redesign the identity and plan the switch across your website, signage, documents and social profiles, so the new brand is consistent everywhere.

The problem

Signs it might be time to rebrand

  • Your business has changed what it offers or who it sells to.
  • You have moved upmarket and your brand still looks like the early days.
  • Your logo looks dated next to your competitors.
  • It doesn't work on social media, small screens or dark backgrounds.
  • Two businesses have merged and need one brand.
  • You find yourself apologising for it in meetings.

Any of these is a good reason to look again. The real question is how far to go.

Rebrand or brand refresh?

Not every business needs a full rebrand. If customers already know and trust your brand, a refresh often does the job: a cleaner logo, a sharper palette and consistent typography. If the business has changed what it does or who it serves, a full rebrand is usually worth it. We'll recommend one or the other after the review, and explain why.

FAQs

Rebranding FAQs

How do we know if we need a rebrand?
Common signs are that the business has changed what it offers or who it serves, the brand looks dated next to competitors, or it no longer works on screens and social media. If customers still recognise and like the brand, a refresh may be enough.
What's the difference between a rebrand and a brand refresh?
A refresh updates how the brand looks while keeping its core, for example tidying the logo and updating the colours. A rebrand goes further and changes the positioning, and often the whole identity.
Will we lose customers if we rebrand?
A well-planned rebrand keeps the things customers know you by and explains the change clearly. Problems usually come from changing too much at once, or leaving old and new material mixed for months.
Does rebranding affect our SEO?
A new logo and colours won't affect your search rankings. A new business name or domain can, so if that's part of the rebrand we plan the redirects and updates with our SEO team.
Can you update our website too?
Yes. Our web team designs and builds websites, so your site can be refreshed or rebuilt in the new brand.
Do you work with businesses outside Cape Town?
Yes. We're based in Cape Town and work with businesses across South Africa and internationally.
