Brand guidelines

Brand Guidelines Your Team Will Actually Use

A clear brand style guide that shows your team, agencies and suppliers how to use your logo, colours, typography and imagery, so the brand stays consistent without a designer checking every piece.

Brand guidelines are the rulebook for your brand. Digital Fold designs brand guidelines for new identities and for existing brands that never had them. We keep them short, visual and practical, with clear examples of what to do and what to avoid, so anyone producing material for your business can get it right.

The problem

When nobody knows which version is right

Without brand guidelines, every supplier makes their own call. The printer guesses your colours, the new marketing hire picks a different font, and someone stretches the logo to fit a banner. Small changes pile up until the brand no longer looks like one business. Guidelines stop that, and save time on every brief you send out.

A brand book that gets opened

Long brand books often sit unopened in a shared drive. We design brand guidelines to be read: short sections, plenty of visual examples and a quick-reference page for the essentials. You get them as a PDF that is easy to share, and we can set up the logo files and templates your team uses most, so following the guidelines is the easy option.

FAQs

Brand guidelines FAQs

What are brand guidelines?
A document that explains how to use your brand: logo, colours, typography, imagery and tone of voice. It keeps everything consistent, no matter who creates it.
Is a brand style guide the same as brand guidelines?
Mostly, yes. Brand guidelines, brand style guide, brand book and brand manual are all names for the same thing. Some cover only the visuals, others include tone of voice and messaging.
Can you create guidelines for our existing brand?
Yes. If your brand never had guidelines, we can document what exists, fix inconsistencies and fill the gaps without a full rebrand.
Can we use a brand guidelines template instead?
A template can work for a very small business. The catch is that it only records what you already have. It won't make the decisions that cause inconsistency, like how the logo behaves on photos or which colour leads.
What format are the guidelines in?
Usually a PDF that is easy to share with suppliers, with the logo files and templates that go with it.
Do you work with businesses outside Cape Town?
Yes. We're based in Cape Town and work with businesses across South Africa and internationally.
